This includes many "trans competent" doctors at "reputable" or queer-forward clinics, btw. It's not that level testing can't be helpful or valuable, more information can be helpful for understanding how things are going. But doctors controlling the dose based on those levels is pure domination
Trans healthcare must be taken back from the clinics, must be in our hands. If we have full HRT autonomy, the state also can't take it away via the number of levers they have over the medical world, and we can focus our energy and time on much more interesting things than basic healthcare
I've met a number of non-binary folks whose doctors refuse to increase their dose (of T or E) because they are being given a "non-binary" dose of hRT. this is completely made up. It's torture. The only measure of HRT success is reported reduction in dysphoria/feeling of wellbeing
Premarin made from mare's piss, hasn't been used since the 60s. They will also tell you HRT greatly increases your risk of osteoperosis, but...it just brings you in line with average women's risk. Since you're a woman, you will have the same risk as other women. But they talk like HRT eats ur bones
the only actual grave negative health outcome attached to estradiol levels is a (small but real) correlation to uterine cancer. Some day, with any luck, this will be a problem for us trans girls. but until then... Estrogen is safe. It is extremely safe for HRT

A semester on trans healthcare would be unheard of, most doctors get a few days on any and all endocrinology and the vast majority of that time is spent talking about insulin. The only information they get is "give as little estrogen as possible"- (bad) advice based on cis menopause treatment
Oh, and "normal hormone levels?" The range was made on a study taken decades ago, in which they threw out the top 10 and bottom 10% of perfectly healthy people without endocrine disorders. in other words, those normal ranges are about as scientific as BMI.
