Two extremes:
Never give people feedback unless they ask for it
Proactively offer feedback from a loving place
What‘s the wisest spot on the spectrum between these two extremes?
I like participating in society. I like following the many norms that, when scaled, make all of this possible
You discern whether a religion is Correct by staring at its beliefs, I discern whether a religion is Correct by staring at whether its followers are happy, loving, and able to adapt
“We need images to reveal inner states.” —Richard Rohr
This is part of why I believe in the importance of art
Loving people does not mean playing their games. In fact it often means deliberate nonengagment of their games so that you’re not too exhausted to love them
It seems to me that one of the biggest differences between mystical Christianity and Buddhism is the source of refuge
Jesus: No one comes to the Father except through me
Buddha: Be a lamp unto yourselves; be your own refuge
I’m sure this has been pointed out somewhere, but there is nothing more Christian than getting persecuted by the members of your own religious authority. The many heretics burned and tortured within church history were (consciously or not) following Jesus’s template

It seems like when you make the core of your religion scripture, you’re creating conditions for violence down the line between groups that want to interpret your scripture differently
Apparently there's no evidence that Mary Magdaline was a prostitute??? 0. It's not in the Bible
The myth came from a 591 speech by Pope Gregory I where he merged Mary M with the unnamed "sinful woman" who anoints Jesus's feet (who also is never described as a prostitute) 😵💫
