Here a quick behind the scenes WIP of this painting.
I tend to think quite a lot about composition. How to direct the viewers eye.
All major lines (pole, legs, mane/tail, carousel) point towards the face of the character.
So your eyes travel, but (should) arrive at the face naturally...
