In critically ill ≥16y requiring fluids for hypotension / organ hypoperfusion, with suspected infection, + ≤6h of ED arrival / ICU consult on ward, no difference in 30d mortality (Ringer's Lactate vs. normal saline, 33.6% vs. 33%; p = 0.80)

Sample size: 35% baseline mortality; 8% absolute reduction; 80% power; p 0.05; 2% inflation ... n = 1118
