❌ Climate change is one of the greatest threats to the environment, our standard of living and the future of coming generations. As such, the companies that emit the most greenhouse gases have a duty to help mitigate it.
❓The debates centred on the application of the French Duty of Vigilance Law to the case.
The defence argues that climate change is not caused by the activities of a single company.
The coalition maintains that the law applies to all serious breaches of environmental and human rights.
According to the defence, although the climate issue affects us all, our societies still rely heavily on fossil fuels.

A ruling against TotalEnergies would send a clear message: the courts can compel the most polluting companies to be held accountable for their impact on the climate and to phase out fossil fuels.
⚖️ The decision in the case between TotalEnergies and a coalition of organisations – Sherpa, @notreaffaireatous.bsky.social, @fne.asso.fr, ZEA – and @paris.fr will be delivered on 25 June.
