the real nub here is that the median voter almost certainly makes zero distinction between covid inflation (mostly unavoidable, drove low end wage gains) and trump inflation (mostly tariff and incompetent war related, entirely by choice), which makes them impossible to untangle for that voter

This is something I still remain unsure about Tbh (and I'm cognizant that this is in the direction of biasing too far towards vibecession discourse) I am not entirely sure what it will take for US voters to reset what is considered 'normal' price levels, and thus stop punishing incumbent presidents

To what degree is the war *actually* unpopular with the median voter vs it just getting wrapped up in the perpetual grievance the median voters now have against literally all incumbents all the time because stuff still doesn't cost what it did in 2019 is something I'm unsure of
