and in before "but they have black producers" and that's fine love to see black artists getting paid but hate seeing black culture commodified and slapped onto nonblack people to sell it is all. It's not black producers' fault though it's the industry pushing it imo
like i have yet to see a single justification for rm opening with "watchu need, twin" it's so corny it's so cringe no korean person was using twin in that context before black people were.
Xlov using "finna" in 1 and only just takes me out (/neg) have they even been to the american south
Kpop gotta get back to aping from sad emo white kids instead of dropping the same 5 aave words or phrases for every chorus. Obviously aave is not linguistically inferior to sad white boy lyrics but when it's used in kpop it's stripped of any real meaning or nuance and esp context
A bg I found recently, A.C.E, has this lovely ballad ("Anymore") that's sounds like The Plain White T's with the sadboy pop punk vibe. my favorite line in the chorus is "and I can't live with this regret/ so here I stand, just 14 steps from your door, your door" like man!!!! It paints a picture!!
I think the problem with excessive English in Kpop is that it's all so vague and unevocative, which isn't helped at all by the endless aave. I listened to Olivia Rodrigo's new album today and while it wasn't completely to my taste it's so easy to feel the authenticity in it through her lyrics
wgen I finally get the mojo to draw again it's soooo overrrr
p4g is one of my favorite games and kanji one of my all time favorite characters so if they change or reframe anything i will........ recharge my ps vita and just play p4g again lmao get fucked atlus
meanwhile the crossover of the summer in kpop, Iconic by Mistake, while I don't hate, is comprised like entirely of online buzzwords and catchphrases. It's just so corny and boring. At least with Korean even if the lyrics are trite they're being performed in their native tongue so it sounds better
