I always have kind of mixed feelings about framings of the indie scene as like, a sort of artistic paradise or a thing that is free of the constraints of capitalism. I feel like it's a framing that feels more based in the illusions of indie game the movie et al than it's ever felt based in reality

It's impossible to overestimate how important the RPG Maker community is to video games, so many classic games in the past 35 years were either made by the community or inspired by them.
To see one of their main knowledge banks nonchalantly wiped away like this is disgusting.
The irony is they are replacing all their non-union humans with agents run by a single organization that can demand changes in wages (aka token costs) overnight without bargaining.
