Jim was bad at his job and didn't use the resources that the club had. His only good years was when Linden made him use the staff and come to consensus. He was also the one who told owners he could turn it around quickly so he made his job tougher then failed at it completely.
What was killer wasn't the busts, it was the lack of picks. You will get some wrong so make sure you have lots when you are in the down cycle. Jim always traded away pics when everyone knew the team had no chance of being good. There wasn't a shortcut that man didn't like.
RJ has it somewhat easy. He is at a start of a rebuild so results won't matter for a few years. As long as he gets the big picture strat right team will turn around. If he gets it wrong it will take longer but everything sounds like they are going to be patient.
Why is that tough? We went through 8 years of Benning going for it instead of amassing assets. Then went through 1/2 a season where we didn't go for it then the next 3 going for it again all the while bleeding future assets for win now moves. Not going for it, taking your time, adding assets seems 👍
