Cats, bats & weasels have a special little flap doo-hicky at the outer base of their ears that is called the "cutaneous marginal pouch" although most know it as a 'Henry's pocket.' Let's talk about what it is, what it does & why it may be related to the exceptional hearing of these animals.

Indoor dogs and cats still need their rabies vaccination, health permitting. Bats are the primary carrier of rabies in North America. Indoor animals have died from bat rabies. This is a major zoonotic risk to humans. Get them kitties and puppies vaccinated!

Veterinarians all agree, but the general public rarely understands this: euthanasia is better a day early than a day late. We owe our animals compassion, even when it's the most difficult decision we have to make.

On the lighter side: home-cooked diets are generally inferior to an adult maintenance kibble or canned food, especially if it is both formulated and tested to meet your pet's nutritional needs. The main exception is if a home-cooked diet plan has been formulated by a veterinary nutritionist.
