Aurorae? No this is #airglow, caused by processes internal to our atmosphere. You really only see this at very dark sites.
Another highlight was the trip to the top where we got a tour around the Mercator telescope where obviously telescope selfies needed to be made. We were given a tour by local astronomer Haotian who is also an astrophotographer and a super chill guy.

The cone of light you see here is called zodiacal light, which is dust and gas that's left over from the formation of our solar system. That's why it seems to 'follow' the path of Venus and Jupiter (and Mercury). #zodiacallight
After the tour in the Mercator dome, we went to see the sunset and the #MAGIC telescope array which has been greatly extended since I was last there. These awesome beasts record the Cherenkov radiation that's emitted when cosmic rays hit our atmosphere. Ain't that metal af?

I also saw some pretty cool obscure stuff through my 25cm telescope. I'll add those observations to deepskylog.be when I feel like it :p Gotta catch up on some more sleep first.
