I'm deeply uninterested in any question about why authors are making less money that doesn't start by asking, "so how much money are publishers making?" they're charging libraries through the nose for those ebooks, after all. if anyone was worried about authors we'd get 50% net minimum on that

we were in the awkward position of being ready to launch the Mercenary Librarians trilogy right when Macmillan was restricting ebook sales to libraries during the launch window. We were upset, to say the least. I was on the phone with a VP who gave me all their library data. It didn't sway me.
I understand concerns about friction and I absolutely agree that some limitations on ebooks make sense if we want to be able to make the math continue to math. But I believe that most of our current solutions are lurching wildly in all directions and serving no one, in the end.
