2023 WHO data noted that 5 countries in the WHO African and Eastern Mediterranean Regions stopped preventive chemotherapy after impact assessments demonstrated an STH prevalence <2%. These countries showcase the effectiveness of STH control efforts in reducing its prevalence.
The #STH Convening on Drug Access and Delivery memo is now live! The discussions held aimed to determine how to best ensure the continued delivery of deworming drugs and prepare for sustained access beyond 2030. Read it here: childrenwithoutworms.org/sth-convenin...
WHO data suggests that the total number of children requiring PC for STH decreased by 21.7 million between 2022 and 2023. This reduction shows the positive impact that global STH control programs have had in helping eliminate suffering from intestinal worm infections in children around the world.
We look forward to seeing the continued impact of their work as the fight continues to #BeatNTDs.
