Welp.
I said I was curious to see what ADA was going to say & they have spoken
As far as I can tell, the screenshot below is the entirety of their press release
I’m sure this was crafted by a whole team of folks trying to do damage control
I don’t feel better

NIH is proposing a cap on the number of research project grants per principle investigator. This is in addition to the 6 apps per calendar year cap imposed by NOT-OD-25-132.
Public comments must be in by Aug 3. Let's go.

I used to tell my ICU teams, “It’s not a sin to make a mistake. It’s a sin to make a thoughtless mistake. It’s a sin to make the same mistake repeatedly. And it’s a major sin not to acknowledge your mistake.”
As Dr. Khan said, a good start to healing.

I’m very curious to hear what the American Diabetes Association has to say in the coming hours & days
Dr. Kahn’s violation of the code of conduct was apparently “distribution of materials” at the ADA conference
The “materials” at issue were reprints of an editorial from an ADA journal

No surprise, this letter from @gregggonsalves.bsky.social to the ADA leadership is excellent. Read the whole 🧵
The bit below & the sentence that follows in the letter are masterful. They pull no punches while remaining human. The door is left open inviting the ADA to do better & redeem themselves.

Sadly, you have now written yourselves into the history books, in a way that brings shame on ADA and yourselves.
I know this is hard to hear and the fallout from what happened in New Orleans will have ramification for months to come for the ADA. 7/
