Maybe. In any case, he does have a motivated base of support from which he draws these attitudes. While many parents of high-support-needs autistic people are lovely and kind, there is a virulent core of resentment and rage that demands blood and penance from the world and even their own children.

The backlash to autism, the vaccine panic, it's not about how resentful he is of functional adults who like trains and math too much. It's how much he fears and despises the demands many of our siblings really *do* place on society, the oft-unmet needs that he sees as disgusting.
I think, in the end, that the various Reasons people give for why it's good and fine that they are very aggro on this here internet and actually this is upholding the true and the good and the beautiful are always a bit less persuasive than: no you're not, you're just being weirdly mean, stop it.
