You may have seen my previous posts about it, but I elaborated a bit more on my favorite contribution to Destiny (and probably to any game ever), "I Made This For You."
Thanks @nathangrayson.bsky.social for a lovely collection of stories.
Destiny 2 devs bid farewell to the game they spent a decade making

LIKE I GET THE IRONY IN COMPLAINING ABOUT WARFRAME BEING TOO OBTUSE AS A FUCKING DESTINY PLAYER BUT BRO THERES. SO MUCH
reinstalled warframe to do the destiny 2 tribute event tomorrow
this game is Menus man
basically "it really fucking sucks that we got here and that marathon is forced to play a game it can never win"
my honest take on marathon vs destiny playercount is that marathon was definitely supposed to be out way sooner before several obvious and significant shifts in direction added years onto the dev timeline late into the game (aka when they had assembled a full team and were actually spending on it)
if chris barrett's original version of marathon (sidestepping the reasons he was kicked out, different convo) dropped in like 2024 the budget would definitely not look even remotely the same. way less time for overhead to accumulate and weight to build up while destiny bled over lightfall
also this is a season 3 thing but liliana's mom is voiced by nana mizuki and i clocked that shit instantly. hi Tsubasa Kazanari what are you doing here
caught up
this current mini-arc is leveraging everything that made Parent and Child the best episode of the series to make a deeply upsetting midgame twist for this arc, it's VERY good
did not think Hercule Poirot would become relevant but "murder becomes a habit" is such a strong theme to throw in
this is pretty easily my favorite part of the whole series so far
i think arc 4 had its moments (the "behold an unthinkable present" scene fucked me up for a while) but they didn't have the emotional connection of 4 full seasons of tv built up to properly make it hurt yet
