Haven’t bought a car since we moved to Melbourne in January and it’s been so easy without one. We pay $15 a month for a service that lets us rent a car at the end of our street for $12/hr (capped at $80 a day) and that *includes* gas (there’s a fuel card in it).

When you live in a very car-dependent society, it might be hard to imagine, but you can live without owning a car. I’ve done so for almost my entire life. I did learn to drive, back in 1984, but I only ever owned a car briefly—when I was just turning 20. I had it for four months, from 2 August 1985 until 15 December 1985.
