The A896 heading east from Shieldaig Village yesterday. The temperate rain forest on the north side of Ben Shieldaig (seen here) only gets direct sunlight for about two months of the year.
#Ganmadoki for our tea tonight. A Japanese tofu pattie, though not traditional, as I didnβt use an egg. One of the many east Asian dishes that just happens to be veggie. I post food stuff on my Highland Home Cook account on Insta if you like #recipes! www.instagram.com/highlandhome...

In case it is of interest to anyone, this is the book I use to study habitats with my grandson. Itβs absolutely brilliant and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
Morning! Next this week is another shot of the summer flowers at the Kennick Reservoir, Dartmoor.....

A salutary reminder indeed π
Did u know? The easiest thing to do to yr garden to rewild it is to rewild your patio. Patios need a lot of control to keep plants from self-seeding between cracks in the slabs & they're blasted with jet washers, but if you stop all of that & welcome in the plants, then all life will follow. π±πΏπ¬π§π±ππͺ²π¦ββ¬
This collection of pieces will be listed in my Etsy on Sunday evening, not tonight-so sorry, I overestimate how much I can do in a day sometimes πΏ:

Morning! Next we move on to a waterfall on the River Avon at Shipley Bridge. It's quite shady so not as many Rhododendron flowers around the waterfall than I would have liked, but it's still a beautiful spot that I keep getting drawn back to...

Dear Bluesky folk, What are your favourite nature-quest non-fiction books? I'm writing a piece about this peculiar sub-genre. My own The Butterfly Isles is one but there's also Much Ado About Mothing, The Orchid Hunter, Orchid Summer, Chasing the Ghost. There must be loads of others I'm missing!
On Wednesday evening at 8pm UK time Iβll be listing a collection of one off necklaces Iβve made using Victorian & Edwardian chatelaine stamp holders, an acorn thimble holder, lockets (incl 1940s scallop & clock lockets) & oak leaves Iβve cast in silver. My shop is here: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/silv...

Torrential rain this afternoon. It's always poignant to remember that once homeless people get wet, they do not have access to the basic essentials that can dry them off again. Homelessness is a failure of political morality.
