Voor handelaren in designerdrugs is het kinderlijk eenvoudig om aan de middelen te komen. Onderzoek van de NOS en Follow the Money laat zien hoe buitenlandse laboratoria op verzoek moleculen van verboden middelen nabootsen. Nederlandse bedrijven importeerden zo voor ruim 46 miljoen euro aan designerdrugs uit India. De straatwaarde loopt op tot bijna 2 miljard euro.

Zie hier hoe kunstmatig de bevoegdheidsverdeling tussen lidstaten en EU is. Onderwijs is een nationale bevoegdheid, lidstaten zijn daarin soeverein. Maar de EU mag landen wel advies geven op het gebied van economie en concurrentiekracht. En dus ook, concludeert Brussel, over onderwijs.
