Commissioner Sรญkela, as the #GlobalGateway is largely financed through the EU development budget, it must uphold TFEU Art. 208: poverty eradication comes first. Investments should reduce inequality and strengthen communities โ not be used as a tool for #private interests.
Whilst the #EU spoke about critical raw materials, geopolitical priorities, and mobility (migration), the #AU (among others) emphasised the threat of future #pandemics, access to life saving #vaccines, and the unfairness of the current financial system towards Africa. (2/2)
