After killing one person without warning or trial, the US government let two other survivors die a horrible death by drowning after clinging to wreckage.
Despite knowing this was a possible outcome, the US government appears to have deliberately chosen not to stage search and rescue ahead of time.
this is in line with increased ice abductions across chicagoland in recent weeks.
good read from @unraveledpress.com:
JUST IN: Former "Broadview Six" defendants seek special counsel to investigate, and possibly prosecute, Chicago U.S. Attorney's Office officials for criminal contempt.

EXACTLY.
I’ve said this a million times but I and the rest of the Broadview 6 are still picking up the pieces of our lives emotionally and financially. This is incredibly stressful in every way possible, and there is no guarantee for a just outcome.
one of the few extraordinary things about the broadview six case is that the us attorney’s office actually got caught
“Council directed staff to to immediately stop the collection of Flock data, immediately initiate the cancellation of the Flock contract, remove cameras as expeditiously as possible and delay seeking new bids for similar technology until a citywide surveillance policy can be put into place.”
Alabama now has medical marijuana, but there’s a huge catch for women ages 11 to 50
“This, I think, is the first sort of mechanism of regular surveillance, regular proving that you’re not pregnant in order to access something that…should be available to everyone.” - @pregnancyjust.bsky.social
Video shared to social media by rapid response shows ICE agents abducting a man this A.M. from inside the Bridgeview Courthouse.
Outside, Cook County Sheriff’s deputy Gigliotti #19013 daps it up with one of the agents.
Asked about IL law preventing arrests at courthouses, deputy Glover shrugs.

Here's the Cook County Sheriff's Office's response to this incident. It notes ICE agents told a lieutenant "they had a valid arrest warrant" for the man they took, but per another Cook County source I spoke to, it's unclear if the sheriffs were actually given a copy of that alleged warrant.
Videos show federal agents pointing weapons at bystanders and trying to access state property as rapid response groups have reported at least 80 detainments across Chicagoland in the last five weeks.
