St Michael the Archangel, Halam is a lovely, very pretty church. Its slightly squat tower probably dates from the 13thC, the gargoyles and rather amusing pinnacles (not as ugly as Pevsner suggests) give it character.

The sturdy 15thC tower at St Peter and St Paul, Upton, Nottinghamshire is topped with pinnacles, the larger central one clearly has aspirations to be a miniature spire one day.

The 15thC font at St Andrew's, Naunton is a rather nice example of its type and well attended by a fire extinguisher and bottled water in case of combustible infants, better safe than sorry.
