wonderful piece from @clintsmithiii.bsky.social that, among other things, makes abundantly clear that pete hegseth and the trump administration are engaged in a racist purge of black officers under the belief that being black and having "merit" are mutually exclusive.
Also saw a grown man named Cliff punch a cow in the face, it was a pretty crazy day

I once poured concrete at a dairy that had several thousand head and I've never smelled anything worse in my entire life. The smell clung to me for days. I cannot imagine drinking raw milk and thinking I'm not going to be ingesting literal shit.

They devoted their lives to serving the United States. Now the nation’s top military leader is sending the message that they’re not welcome.
Part of it is just idiocy, to be clear - there are more people than you'd think who just don't get how counting votes works - but more of it is just not comprehending the idea of a legitimate defeat. There are all sorts of reasons for this: race, class-based entitlement, living in a bubble.
There is no world in which you're going to convince committed Republicans that elections they don't win are legitimate. In my conversations with these people, you can cite whatever evidence you want and it doesn't matter, because their belief that they're entitled to win overwhelms everything.
None of us has to like this state of affairs, but it is where we're at right now as a country, and wasting your time and energy addressing election denialism to conservatives actually obscures the core issue that these people don't think we're all entitled to participate in democracy
I'd like to thank @clueheywood.bsky.social for making me comfortable in the Arizona social spaces where people just say this shit out loud to anybody who'll listen while they're five double vodka sodas deep
