In that same way, trying to explain this to someone like that is gonna get an enthusiastic nod and zero change in behavior. Obviously this isn't always true and it's worth pushing people who ARE consistent, but AGH do I dislike seeing it.
By labeling professional adult content as skeevy and exploitative, what it actually does is create a permission structure to steal from consenting adults creating content for other consenting adults
Interesting example on the itchio subreddit where a creator feels the “NSFW” tag is a misnomer for their horror game, resulting in disagreement between Leaf and the dev www.reddit.com/r/itchio/com...
I personally think Leaf should contact devs privately in these instances and consider revamping the classification system to prevent confusion
As a separate cap to this discussion, the great irony of Tumblr’s vanilla feminist porn community — hailed as a major breakthrough in millennial women expressing themselves sexually online, by their own terms — is that a lot of the content was reposted and pirated without permission from performers
