Wow, this showed up on my feed just now. I knew that Smith Mountain Lake was badly low, but even in my neck of the woods (Mud Lick, Roanoke River) it's bad too!
Long-term dryness has already had significant effects on agriculture and lake levels. The weeks ahead will determine if the “Drought of ’26” becomes something we all remember.
