Every year in Metro Vancouver, car crashes kill 100 people. We can get to zero by demanding governments design transportation systems to put safety first. http://linkin.bio/visionzeroyvr

Shameful
ABC isn't on here but they're over on the other site spreading misinformation about the VZ Action Plan, and also making it abundantly clear that they are choosing driver speed over human life. (1/3)
BREAKING: Mayor Ken Sim's ABC majority voted not to reduce speed limits on major roads, despite 93% of all road fatalities in Vancouver happening on arterials. This was one of the most important Near-Term Actions in the entire plan, because roads will never be safe until people drive at safe speeds.
We have a lot of thoughts about last night's vote. We're thrilled that 4/5 of the Vision Zero Action Plan passed, and grateful to the hundreds of you who wrote in support. But we're also dismayed that ABC stripped out the most important measure. Read more: visionzerovancouver.ca/2026/06/10/a...
The actual plan, which we're sure none of them read, was to reduce speeds on select arterials with high commercial and pedestrian volume. Streets like Denman, Main, or Commercial Drive. These are the streets where 93% of road fatalities occur.
Orr: (reads through Meiszner's amendment) what are we doing here? Balance? A few seconds of travel time and a human life! Can't say you support vision zero road safety and advance this amendment. (He's right!)
In the past 3 weeks ABC has tweeted about " #publicsafety " 16 times. Yesterday they voted against a critical, data-driven measure that would objectively save lives. 12 pedestrians were killed on Vancouver streets last year, the most in almost 2 decades. Sim and ABC don't care about your safety.

Amendment; "With the exception of reducing speeds." Amendment guts the the easiest way we can save lives. Voting against the data. Fuck this shit. ABC are cowards.

Lucy: ABC cut funding to road safety. I am disgusted at this amendment. GOOD FOR LUCY. Utterly shameful behaviour from ABC. They are an anti-urbanist, conservative party--that's clear now, right?!

They really have no excuse because traffic engineers and transportation experts explained clearly to them how this intervention would save lives. They simply don't care. Re-election is more important to them than your life.
