I told students at the end of the exam that they had learned in 15 weeks what I learned over my whole career. They thought it was a joke. But it is true. Some material I learned as an undergrad, and other material I learned while writing my course notes. This is one of the many + of teaching.

Louis (Bernatchez) was in his mid-forties and a highly influential and renowned researcher already at the time. Now that I am older than this, I realize how exceptional he was. I would still seek his advice if he were still around. A mentor is always a mentor, especially one who becomes a friend.
