Great video on biodiversity research in BC, featuring lots of very smart people, and myself. Thanks @bcgsc.ca for putting this together and highlighting the importance of biodiversity genomics!
Ehm, now with attached postdoc ad...
We are looking for a postdoc to help with a project on eelgrass genomics, in collaboration with the O'Connor and Rieseberg labs at UBC - see ad here tinyurl.com/2yd487p4! Come and join us in beautiful Vancouver 🌊🌾🏔️
Great postdoc opportunity to work on metabolomics and genomics of aroma in berries (raspberry and blueberry) at UBC in beautiful Vancouver! Come explore aroma diversity and figure out what are the metabolites and genes that control it - and help us make even better berries! 🌱 🫐 ⚗️ 🧬
As a lifelong fan of raspberries (see attached photographic evidence), I am so excited about this project - a childhood dream come true!
Blueberries are fine as well, I guess 😅
The Todesco lab at MSL UBC is looking for a Research Tech to help us run the lab and do fancy science! Good wet lab skills and enthusiasm for plant research are required, experience with genomics and bioinformatics is a plus. See ad below, please spread the voice! 🧬🌻🧪🌱🔬🧫

Only two days left to apply for this position in our lab at UBC!
Nice article on great work by Cassandra Elphinstone (soon to be published, hopefully)
Oh, but fortunately there is this handy News and Views that makes everything clear! 🌻🫄 @ubcbotany.bsky.social

Really neat paper out in @nature.com on an efficient way to produce doubled haploids in sunflower, thanks to the serendipitous discovery of spontaneous haploid parthenogenesis.
That might be the least intelligible sentence I have ever written - great science communication Marco!
