My eldest has found their tribe on social media, much as I did with ICQ, AOL etc in the 1990s. To take that away from them would be damaging. Let parents manage their access with meaningful controls, rather than turfing them out of yet another space.

I must be 1 of the 1/10 who don’t agree with the gov plans to ban social media: “Decisive action – backed by 9 in 10 parents – expected to be brought to Parliament before Christmas, with protections expected to come into force in Spring 2027” Mandate child safety controls for tech firms!
I had a clear out of phone contacts last night. Cut a good 50% out after realising I’d not contacted them, nor they me in at least 5 years. Quite liberating actually.
