if you don't mind my asking--how is this a 1st Amendment issue and not a question of whether states can prohibit practices that are advertised/represented as therapeutic healthcare, but which are both ineffective and actually damaging?

I always enjoy your work but this one really made me laugh out loud
I distinctly remember seeing that character and thinking "Huh, this writer is doing something rare and deeply human, and informed well by real history [e.g., echoes of the famous Henrietta Lacks]." Then I saw your name and smiled. "Ah, of course."
the only thing people are worse at than probability is conditional probability. even Paul Erdős was bad at it!

it seems like the court is saying that therapists have a 1A right not only to tell children that their sexual orientation and/or gender identity are wrong but to try to change those things
