The queerness of the characters is not the point of them, but merely a part of their personality. Very refreshing for that type of story.

The artist's death was announced a few months ago, a year after the event.
I'm very impressed by Morgan Beem's work, whose art has a painterly quality that suits both the real world and the fantasy settings. Characters look like real people one could meet in the streets - well, maybe not the giant, tentacled murder bird...
This is another series I intend to follow.

Add to that a gay character who's central to the story and you get a queer-inclusive, very entertaining story with engaging and dynamic art, reformatted from the original Webtoon format, with strong storytelling. Also, one of the villains is a Tarzan analog, a great idea.

Barbiere nicely shifts the limelight from Hector to Al as both discover the high stakes of the strange world of the vanished older author and his daughter Alethea.
