trying to give ffxi the grace of it being almost as old as i am but compared to ffxiv the latter is a gentle kiss on the lips while the former feels like getting hit in the balls repeatedly
the game isn’t bad but i will say that ffxiv definitely improves on a lot of old systems that are not intuitive whatsoever and kinda drive me insane with how much its design philosophy is “figure it out, dipshit”. you really gotta have multiple ffxi wiki tabs open to not lose your marbles.

i haven’t done a whole lot of story quests yet (i only got to rank 3 yesterday) so i can’t judge it on that front yet (though the writing is enjoyable), but everything seems very “one step forward, two steps back” with progression. to get something good you gotta do some tedious bullshit first

i’m level 50 now which means i can do the limit break quests to increase my level cap. to do this i need to talk to a guy but i need a key item first because he’s in an inaccessible area and the guards won’t let me in without it. where do i obtain this item? no idea, the wiki page is blank
