Mike Bornman retired after 36 years at the LA Sheriff’s Department, and now he is running for Sheriff. He says he has a tattoo, but that does not make him a gangster. He points to his record of investigating other department members as evidence that he does not tolerate misconduct.
I spoke with Sheriff Robert Luna ahead of Tuesday’s primary election. We discussed the department’s work with federal agencies, enforcing a mask ban on ICE, and why he thinks a nuanced approached to deputy gangs is necessary.
