when i worked at a call centre we had pretty good hold music. when you transfer internally the hold music plays for staff too, so i always feel bad when i call places with bad music. the people who are hearing the most of it are the people who work there so it's a secret occupational hazard.
curse of the Gothic: it's not 'good literary form' to have people directly stating emotions and observing themes/motifs/etc in the text, but you have to rip the bandaid off at some point and just go for it because the form is about a failure to repress things so if it stays repressed it's not Gothic
