As someone who cobbled together a game collection from yard sales, whose first wargames were a pile of badly mixed up old Avalon Hill games, and whose introduction to Dungeons and Dragons was the 2nd edition Dungeon Master's guide (without PHB!), I cannot imagine a better lost game to dive into.
