I’m gonna be real. Believing that older video games require constant remakes in order to be enjoyed in the modern day is the same school of thought as needing a live action remake of an animated film in order to watch it. It’s just completely pointless most of the time.
the important thing is that doctor who, like all british institutions, is now a private-public partnership undergoing an open auction for the lowest bidder
And I think that carries over to subtitles in general, even for foreign language imports that are much more "commercial". Also there's a tendency for people to half-watch things, leave the room to grab a snack, etc., and not to give a film their full attention. (Subtitles generally demand that.)
