Christ Church, Bridlington, is an early Victorian Gothic Revival church (1841) among the early works of architect G G Scott, built to cater for increasing numbers of residents & visitors to the seaside town. Its a notable landmark with the steeple being a particularly prominent feature.
Thirty new council homes have been built in Bridlington's Springfield Ave. Built by contractors Hobson & Porter with impressive design by East Riding of Yorkshire Council's own architectural and property services team & with well detailed & executed brickwork that adds much to the street scene.
Terrific high-impact new creative artwork in Bridlington's Old Town at the end of High Street. By professional specialists Mural Minded, the Yorkshire-based mural & graffiti art business founded by artist Sam Porter, its a scene rich in local historical significance & folklore.
Flats at Seamer Road Corner were built in the early 2000's in the Falsgrave Conservation Area of Scarborough at a busy road junction. They contribute to the townscape here with their architecture reflecting the distinctive Dutch gables to other buildings in the nearby Falsgrave Rd. high street.
At Bridlington's soon-to-be-completed 426-space multi-storey car park, a standout #architectural treatment is its wave-inspired cladding using twisted fins that mimic waves in the east coast seaside location. By Maple Facades with #architects CJCT & built by HBC Construction, its impressive.
A walk yesterday in the art quarter of Dalby Forest past Clearfell House (2024) & a new exhibit, Biophilia by Lola Marie. Mosses hanging from tree branches add to the ambience, having found a good home in shade.
Nice light this evening in Scarborough's South Cliff Gardens, with views over South Bay towards the harbour & castle headland.
Street scenes in Bridlington Quay Conservation Area today where restoration of the former Hull Co-Op Society premises is nearing completion but sad to see a bakery closed - though the historic shopfront (with its lovely leaded-light glass signage) is essentially being kept.
St James with Holy Trinity Church (built 1894) in Scarborough uses inventive design by notable architects, Paley & Austin of Lancaster. Making use of a difficult sloping site it is a significant landmark on a major route (A64 Seamer Road) into the east coast seaside town. Historic England grade II.
