1. The global democratic decline is notable and ongoing. As measured by the Liberal Democracy Index (LDI), the level of democracy has fallen back to 1995 levels based on country-averages, to 1978 levels by population-weighted averages, and to a new 50-year minimum by GDP-weighted averages.
