The point of art is to make you feel things, and sometimes the thing they want you to feel is sad. Sometimes a character gets something they don't deserve, sometimes a character doesn't get a chance at redemption. People are complex, life is complex, and sometimes bad things happen to good people.
I think a lot of online fandoms just fundamentally don't understand the concept of tragedy
Like if a bad thing happens to a character, they interpret it as the author disavowing the character and saying this is what they deserve
But like, man, sometimes the point is just that bad things happen
The entire business class are like kids constantly planning a heist to sneak into the teacher's office and change their test grades, and nobody ever points out that it would be much easier to just study for the test.
A weird thing about late stage capitalism is how it incentivizes spending more on projecting the idea that you're doing something than it would cost to just actually do that thing.
It's more important to make you think they have a product worth buying than to actually have a product worth buying.
"I can't wait to see Bombchu girl in the remake"
"I can't wait to see Malon in the remake"
"I can't wait to see Nabooru in the remake"
You are all too cowardly to say who everyone REALLY wants to see in the remake
