Something was causing our dog to lose her cool this morning. Non stop barking. Turns out it was this magnificent Snapping Turtle wearing a wood chip tiara. She was just having a little trouble looking for a place to lay her eggs. Like her ancestors have done for millions of years. #turtles #nature

Spending more time out on the deck means being judged as a bumbling nuisance by this American Golden Finch and this Blue Jay. While I'm on deck, they do not feel they can safely enjoy the variety of seeds I've put out for them. They need me to GO. AWAY....now! #birds #photography #nature
Today's pondlife. Our backyard continues to be a great habitat for beautiful waterfowl. The Wood Ducks have such arresting red eyes! And this Great Blue Heron was holding this pose for long time. I suppose for drying its wings in the sun.
