www.nature.com/articles/s41... 🧪. Impressive GWAS meta-analysis from the Anxiety Disorders Working Group of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium
You're invited to register for and send in your submissions to #WCPG26! The International Society of Psychiatric Genetics' annual congress will be held in Glasgow, Scotland from 29 September - 3 October. The theme - Understanding Today, Translating Tomorrow - asks us to look forward. Join us.
📢 New publication in @nathumbehav.nature.com from the PGC Anxiety Working Group: the largest GWAS of generalised anxiety symptoms to date, analysing ~700k across 14 cohorts. We found 74 genome-wide significant loci, 39 novel for anxiety.
This is so important, and the initial results here are very promising to see. 1/5 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
This course will develop your knowledge about genetic and environmental causes of developmental psychopathology across the lifespan.

It is clear there is a/multiple unknown cause of recurrent miscarriage. I look at medical epidemiology and it feels to me like this is a solvable problem, but one that needs more investment than is currently being given, and less inertia in NHS guidelines to actually follow the evidence. 4/5

Not something I talk about a lot, but this story exactly parallels our own experiences. My wife and I felt ghoulish because we were smiling and relieved when they told us our third pregnancy in a row had failed, and our doctors could finally stop being hamstrung by NHS protocols. 2/5
We are fairly well-informed people who knew what the evidence suggested the best care pathway was. We wanted progesterone after the first miscarriage, but weren't allowed it without going through it all twice more. Since then, we've had two successful progesterone-supported pregnancies. 3/5
Out earlier this week in @natgenet.nature.com: GWAS of major anxiety disorders in 122,341 European-ancestry cases identifying 58 loci (www.nature.com/articles/s41...) Awesome work, and great news for the anx genetics community — each @pgcgenetics.bsky.social paper seeds 100s more papers!

Hopefully studies like this one can start to have the real-world impact that is necessary, and help lots more couples to have more positive pregnancies. 5/5
