The main thing was rewriting brigidier to download the bootcamp drivers. The program is written in Python2 so I migrated it to Python3 using 2to3 and I put the script in a fork of the main project on GitHub.

The result is that everything works, WiFi, Thunderbolt, trackpad, display. Just works.
If anyone has #lastgen hardware laying around, it’s definitely worth considering this option if you aren’t familiar with Linux or need native Office Suite.
My friend does not know Linux so this should work!
