2/2...I have a question: Using Ancestry's shared matches function, do people often find that the paternal ancestor they're hoping to find shows up as maternal and vice versa? When I look at a couple of my matches' trees, they offer the most plausible leads, despite seeming to be mat instead of pat!

Back from a lovely holiday, plus visits to friends and family. We got home yesterday evening and at nine o'clock this morning, the tree surgeon arrived to remove a dangerously damaged conifer and its twin. Never a dull moment!

You may have seen on the news today about the sad death of the famous oak tree, Major Oak, in Sherwood Forest. According to local folklore, it was the shelter of Robin Hood and his Merry Men.
