Naar schatting maar de helft van de opgegraven archeologische vondsten komt in depots terecht. Prof. Wim De Clercq (@archeougent.bsky.social) : “De pijnlijke conclusie is dan dat archeologie geen wetenschappelijk proces meer is, maar verworden is tot bodemsanering”
Nieuwe resultaten van een grootschalig pollenonderzoek uit waterputten, grachten en andere diep uitgegraven structuren werden gebundeld in het syntheserapport "SYNTAR 34: Looking down the well". De resultaten worden komende vrijdag gepresenteerd op de "7de Studiedag Syntheseonderzoek Archeologie".
Yesterday dr. Quentin Drillat successfully defended his PhD dissertation entitled: “Spatial Organization, Fragmentation and Developent of City-States in central Crete (Late Minoan II - Hellenistic period)” (promotor: prof. dr. Roald Docter). Congratulations dr. Drillat! 🎉

The Research Afternoon of the Department was again a big succes! Bringing together topics ranging from the paleoclimate in Bronze Age Belgium, Byzantine mosaics in Carthage, pottery from Cyprus and landscape evolution in Flanders. Food for thought and stimulating conversations!

Really excited to share the preprint for @halbevi.bsky.social and I’s new paper! Lithic tools from the Mesolithic and Neolithic were analysed with palaeoproteomics, use-wear, radiocarbon and optical microscopy residue analyses to find evidence of bovine butchery!
