there is a type of left media figure whose main ideological principle is contrarianism. pointed in the right direction, that can lead you to plenty of good journalism. but it will also lead you to some of the stupidest takes imaginable

On headcount, overtime, incarceration, and low-level arrests, Tisch appears to be bucking the Mayor’s purported criminal justice reform agenda.
Platner is obviously way better than the alternative, so the calculus of overlooking all this bad stuff he has done makes enough sense. What's unsettling to me are the group of ostensible lefty personalities gloating about this overlooking as if it's actively good, or even part of the appeal
