On 28th June 1905, the university coat of arms was granted by the College of Arms. It features an open book with gold edges with the Latin inscription Disce Doce (‘Learn and Teach’), the Crown of Success, the White Rose of York for the county of Yorkshire and sheaves of arrows 📖👑🌼🏹 [2/3]

121 years ago today @sheffielduni.bsky.social was granted its Royal Charter🎉 In 1897, the Sheffield School of Medicine, Firth College & the Sheffield Technical School formed the University College of Sheffield, becoming the University of Sheffield on 31 May 1905 after receiving the charter. [1/3]
