My lab is currently recruiting 2(!!) postdocs in RNA structural biology/biochemistry! Full details can be found below and on our website (sites.lsa.umich.edu/keane-lab/op...).
One of the major highlights of the RNA Society Conference last week was the hike that JR Scientists took to Mount Royal. It was a great opportunity to stay active, connect with fellow scientists, and enjoy the outdoors.

New paper! How do RNAs "know" where to go inside a cell? We dug into the sequence elements that route RNAs to the right place. It turns out that, in mammals, they're surprisingly massive (>200 nt), multipartite, and wonderfully complicated. 🧵
If you want to know what 3′UTRs with long conserved sequence stretches do, check out our BioRxiv preprint doi.org/10.64898/202....
They form functional intermolecular 3′UTR-3′UTR interactions that enable co-folding of proteins to rapidly induce transcriptional programs.
We are thrilled to announce the 2026 Zara Weinberg Leading Edge Fellows! 40 remarkable postdocs pursuing transformative research in biological/biomedical sciences.
This is the 7th Leading Edge cohort and we are so excited to welcome them!

Finally out in @Cellcellpress!
Proteins with long IDRs are prone to misfolding during protein synthesis.
This is prevented by mRNA 3′UTRs that act as mRNA-based IDR chaperones.

Out now in Science! Our study challenges long-standing assumptions about transcription factor specificity in eukaryotes. Novel single-molecule measurements of TF behavior in living cells reveal an independence of locus-specific binding from DNA sequence recognition.🧵

@drsusanna.bsky.social paper is now out in its final form. Relative to the original preprint, we now show additional mutant data and a better way to display heat maps of gene activation.

love the sparkle! happy birthday!!
Excited to share a new preprint from the lab led by @lukekoblan.bsky.social and William Colgan in which we describe our efforts to define a quantitative cell fate map of mouse embryogenesis! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
