thrilled to announce my story “revolutions, as told by a humble rice farmer” is forthcoming in @podcastle.org! 🥹 referencing tang dynasty poetry (悯农) it asks “what if we focused on this RANDOM RICE FARMER instead of the empire??” it’s a deconstruction of fantasy, nationalism, and also v queer
It’s pub day for the WOMEN OF THE WEIRD WEST Anthology, an imaginative, multicultural collection of weird wild west stories! My story “How To Kill A Yaoguai” is in here, inspired by Chinese immigrants in the 1800s and the women who were often trafficked to the so-called “new world."

One of my favorite photographers, Duane Michals, passed away this week, age 94. I came across a postcard print of "This Photograph is My Proof" when I was 18 and decided that the hand-written insistence - "It did happen, she did love me!” was both the height and depth of all love. Safe travels -
I'm now reminded of Le génie du mal, a statue of Lucifer by Belgian artist Joseph Geefs, it was considered so hot there was fear it would distract people during sermons, so it was removed and his brother Guillaume made a second version, that was also too hot.

Man, I love how you can request almost any book from the library and they will scour the entire city to bring it to you for free. The closest thing to Santa Claus for adults.
