We are excited to play @transpobingo.bsky.social and explore how safer streets for all types of users improves our community for everyone.
We have sent our letter to DDOT requesting progress on safety improvements at Upshur and Kansas. The first letter had 111 neighbors signing on to call for improvements, but we are already up to ~125 names, and more are joining daily.
This is now our second-largest advocacy effort, with 175 neighbors asking DDOT to make the Kansas and Upshur intersection safer for all users.
Our highest was 191 neighbors calling for bus priority lanes on Georgia Ave.
Safer streets for everyone is popular and has strong community support.
We look forward to this dangerous roadway in our community becoming safer for all neighbors and users.
DDOT shared they will paint the bike lanes at Kansas and Upshur green for higher visibility & add concrete buffers to add bike lane protections near the intersection. They are also adding speed tables on Upshur. Thank you to the 150+ neighbors who signed our letter calling for safety improvements.
Petworth for Safer Streets has a sign on letter supporting DDOT's proposals for a protected bike lane across Harewood Rd NW and Taylor St NE. This letter is just for DDOT's first phase in NE that would eventually connect to NW. You can add your name by April 28: bit.ly/HarewoodTaylorBikeLane

After several recent incidents where children were struck by shared e-bike riders traveling at high speeds we are asking DDOT & the Comm on Transportation to limit shared e-bike speeds and to build more bike lanes to reduce this sidewalk conflict. Join us: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
We are sending a letter to DDOT asking what they are doing to make the Kansas, Georgia, and Upshur intersections safer. Several months after Kenny was killed there have been no safety improvements & no indication anything will change.
