it is very difficult to maintain a relationship with someone with insecurity over their art or hobbies, it forces you to provide validation that can never satisfy that insecurity, and in causes them to resent you for what they perceive as lying, or for thinking what they make is any good
I think every city should just hire a handful of artists who go around making permanent art all over the city. No committees, no long processes - just give them a wage, an annual budget, and have them go make cool shit.
